After a two-and-a-half-year countdown, the big (one might say mountain-sized) moment finally arrived: on the weekend of May 11-12, Avance at South Mountain celebrated its long-awaited grand opening.
“This is an area that has some of our science and tech workforce but also home to places like “The Farm at South Mountain” that celebrate the agricultural heritage of this area…This is an up-and-coming community in a very important part of Phoenix that has been the past of Phoenix and will also be the future of Phoenix.” -Kate Gallego, Phoenix Mayor
Ribbon-Cutting and Bobby Berk
The festivities kicked off on Friday with a ribbon-cutting celebration attended by Phoenix Mayor, Kate Gallego, as well as the trade partners and team members who helped take Avance from a bold vision to a stunning reality. Rounding out Friday’s pre-opening program was a Meet the Designer event with interior design sensation and Netflix’s Queer Eye star, Bobby Berk. Having designed the interiors of Avance’s model homes with his team, he was on-site to discuss Avance’s modern design aesthetic—and even shared a few tips on how to make a stylish home more personal.
A Grand Opening Indeed
On Saturday, it was time for the official grand opening bash. And seldom has a new home community unveiling deserved the attribute “grand” more than this day, when 3000 guests and media members gathered at Avance to salute this new, one-of-a-kind community at the base of South Mountain.
Sunny blue skies and pleasant temperatures in the 80’s made for the perfect outdoor celebration. And even “our” mountain was wearing its (Saturday and) Sunday Best in all green with blooming flowers—showing off the benefits of having a mountain in one’s backyard beautifully.
With six of the seven model homes and Avance’s epic rec center, The Lookout, all available to tour (the seventh model in the Alta neighborhood is coming soon), guests enjoyed exclusive model home tours with Maracay’s New Home Advisors and learned everything about Avance at the Welcome Center—from the four neighborhoods and their amenities, to Maracay’s LivingSmart® program and Avance’s architectural styles that capture the “modern” in “Modern Meets Mountain.”
Speaking of The Lookout, Avance’s state-of-the-art recreation center was an instant people magnet with its resort-style 3,600-square-foot beach-entry pool and high-tech fitness center. With 24-hour virtual fitness classes, there’s truly no excuse left for not getting a workout in—even when the gym is competing with 51 miles of hiking and biking trails so close to home at South Mountain Park. Good thing Avance’s location is just minutes from Downtown Phoenix and cuts commute times so short that residents have more time to enjoy recreation.
An Instant Hot Spot
A fantastic grilled lunch, Hawaiian shaved ice from Mahalo food truck and live music by local legends, The Groove Merchants band, complemented the program, giving guests opportunities to relax, socialize and discuss their favorite parts of Avance—and some even began making themselves at home: 31 new home contracts were signed during the grand opening weekend alone.
One thing’s for sure: the grand opening was a full success and the Phoenix area is truly ready for a community like Avance that introduces a never-before-seen lifestyle and quality of life to the region. See for yourself and stop by Avance. You might just find the home of your most adventurous dreams.
“Valley homebuyers have never seen anything like this in the region. Avance not only breaks the mold in new-home architecture but also challenges the status quo of traditional mountain living in the Valley.” -Andy Warren, Maracay President
